Ideas for the Spare Room!

Brian and I will be renting my parents' basement come June.  This gives me not too much time to clean out the other "half" of my bedroom and turn it into a room for Beck.  This means I have to sell this 6'x6' desk I'm currently sitting at, along with packing up all of my art supplies and moving them into a studio (hopefully).  I've been thinking a lot about how we're going to decorate Beck's potential room.  I was thinking about using the pale green paint I bought a few years back (but never got around to using) and buying neutral colored furniture.

I have a lot of Disney stuff that I have accumulated over years and countless trips to Disney World.  More specifically, I have a lot of Peter Pan trinkets, figurines, stuffed animals, etc. that I'd love to incorporate into little B's room.

Here are some of the things I'd like to see in Beck's room by the summer:

I'm absolutely in love with this Peter Pan mobile.  I kind of wish I had this when I was a baby!  I would love to see this hanging over his crib, and the cribs of any future siblings Beck may gain along the way...

I was looking for furniture that is easy to sand and stain a few times (just incase he decides he doesn't approve of our color choices when he's older) and something that isn't made for kids, but something that can go from kid to teen to maybe even adult.  This particular chest of drawers is from Ikea, but I plan on searching thrift shops, antique shops and craigslist for anything with potential and character.

Okay, I know Beck is only 3 months old, but how PERFECT is this for a Peter Pan themed room?!  It's a rocker, if you couldn't tell and I wish it came in my size!  ...Wait, I'm only 4'10" so maybe I can fit in it...

And finally we have a rocker to help put fussy babies to a slumber.  My parents bought one of these about about 15 years ago (way after my sister and I were born) to just have in the den.  I have to admit, it's really comfy and relaxing.  This is a must for Beck's room!

Well, I guess that is it for now...Hopefully I will have this room complete sooner than I'd like to and can share it with you!

Unfortunately, my plan to make a super awesome zombie cake didn't work out.  Brian was supposed to go to New Jersey yesterday, which would have been about a day and a half worth of baking and decorating time, but instead his mom came here and we spent the day at his aunt's.

[Beckham, Brian's 2 month old son]

Tonight we are going to Mike and Cheryl's new place to watch the Walking Dead season finale.  We will be eating ice cream cake instead haha.

Too Gross to Eat

Okay, so in honor of my boyfriend's birthday this Saturday, I am taking a risk and baking a very elaborate cake for him.  The idea sparked on Sunday after we finished watching the Walking Dead.  There were a bunch of us sitting in Mike's room and we decided that since he and Cheryl will be moved into their new apartment this upcoming weekend, that we'll have a birthday/season finale party.  Danny and I wanted to hire his friend's bakery to make the cake, but unfortunately his friend quit (pretty much the day before we came up with this idea).  So I decided that I will bake the cake Saturday and hopefully have it completely decorated by Sunday.

Oh, did I mention that this cake was going to be inspired by the Walking Dead?!  Perhaps a zombified Brian (my boyfriend)?  I looked on google for some inspiration, even though I already have an idea in mind.  These are some of my favorites:

What's it all about?

My grandpa came back to New York to live with my aunt and uncle.  He had been living on the west coast for a little less than 10 years now.  He brought back with him his sweet little cat named Alfie.  Funny story, when he lived in Connecticut, before my grandpa passed away, they owned another cat named Alfie.  Once my grandpa moved and found this cat, he realized how much he looked like the original Alfie, so he named him Alfie.  I think it's cute, and I guess when you're pushing 90 and only have a few things left to easily remember, recycling pet names isn't the worst thing to do.

Not Model Behavior

I modeled for Brian yesterday for one of his photo assignments.  I'm not a model in the slightest bit.  I'm awkward and can't make a "model"-esque face at all.  I'm one of those people that NEED to make a silly face when my picture is taken.  Somehow he managed to get a few of me laughing...

Then he made me scream.

Is it Possible to Gain Weight By Looking at Realistic Clay Pastries?

I've been at these non-stop for the past two days.  I'll be shooting them tomorrow to go up in the shop.  They look so yummy in person...My mouth is watering!  I really enjoy the macaron, however, it may only be suitable for long hair.  I think it will look really cute on the crown of the head since it's kind of tall.  I think I'll force my sister to model tomorrow.

New Old Finds

I finally got to go thrifting today!  It's been far too long since I went last.  I've been caught up with so many crafts and projects that I kind of abandoned my darling little vintage shop.  But, I sat myself down and realized that I need to learn how to FOCUS!  I'm pretty sure I have ADD to the max when it comes to being creative.  I love doing so many different things that I become a scatterbrain and jump from one project to the next.  I feel that every week is something new.

Anyways, I didn't get to thrift for long.  Sam and I promised Brian we would take him to get dinner on his break.  So as a result I was only able to leave with two coats.  Not bad for this particular thrift shop I was at.  I'll be taking pictures tomorrow of these items and I'll make sure to post them right away!

In the meantime, It's now after 3am and I totally lost track of time thanks to Sims 3.  I'm such a child.

Okay loves, have a good night (or morning?)

Two-Faced

For those who don't know me, I'll have you know there are two sides to me: one is extremely girly (think fashion, hair, make-up, animals, cute things, home decor).  Then there is a whole other side.  This side is the "artsy" side.  I guess the best way to describe my "artsy side" is to just take a look below...

My friend Joey and I had a small shoot today.  He has a solo project called Kissing Candice and he is releasing his EP tomorrow.  He used to be in Dr. Acula, so we go way back.  In fact, I hadn't seen him in almost two years, which really sucked.  However, we got to reminisce on old times and touring together three years ago.  That's the only good part about not seeing people for a long time.

Anyways, I have a belly full of nachos and am thinking about calling it a night.  I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day tomorrow.  Goodnight!

Let's Talk Hair...

I'll be the first to admit that when I'm stressed I take it out on my hair.  Sometimes I don't even realize I'm stressed until there's a pile of hair in my bathroom sink.

However, I've never really been a fan of long hair (on myself).  I think I look a little more my age with short hair (I'm only 4'10", so anything to help me not look 16 is a plus!)  My mom keeps pestering me to go to a professional, but I have never walked out of a salon satisfied.  I particularly hate getting my hair styled by others...You can wash it and maybe cut it...BUT THAT'S IT.  I'll never go back to get my hair lightened in a salon either.  I walked out last year with orange roots and blood orange tips.  Plus at that time I was also trying to grow out my hair, so imagine the pain I felt when I was told she was going to "trim" the ends and ended up taking a few inches off.  Ugh.  I think hair is very special to a girl.  It can make or break your self esteem.  I've always depended on my hair to make me feel better if I wasn't happy with an outfit or something.  I think this also why I love making hair accessories.  A hair accessory can always fix problem hair.

Here are two more jars I just got to photograph!  These were painted by Brian and I assembled them.

Whoa Two Posts in Less Than 24 Hours?

Here's a little sneak preview at some hair pieces I'm working on!

I'm Back!

I seem to have been neglecting this blog, and therefore I am quite sorry.  Life has been a roller coaster lately and I suppose this has become the last thing on my mind.  But here I am, updating...Finally!

So I won't bore you with my stories to which have had me distant from my blog.  I will only update you on what I have been creating lately.

Have I ever mentioned my obsession with mason jars?  Well, I have a ridiculous amount scattered throughout my home.  Some as candle holders, some as trinket holders, one collecting change, some decorative, etc.  Yeah, I have quite a collection.  Anyways, Brian and I came across this fun little idea and decided we should make some.

What we did was paint plastic animals and the tops of the jars.  Then we covered them with glitter and let them dry.  I searched for a solution as to how to keep loose glitter from getting all over the place, and the best one I found was hair spray!  Let me tell you...IT WORKS!  Plus it doesn't stay sticky!

Here are some pictures of some that we finished (and posted on etsy):
