Hurricane Irene

Brian and I decided to drive around and take some photos of some of the damages from the hurricane.  We mostly saw fallen trees, and one case of flooding.  There were a lot of houses with no power, including Brian and most of Massapequa.

Shop

My etsy store is finally up.  I don't have as many items as I would have wanted to by now, but I'll be adding more soon.  I can't decide whether or not I want to set up lights and photograph the items without a model or not.  Hmm...Maybe I'll do it without the model, but replace the images when I get a model.  Decisions, decisions.  All I know is that I can't really do anything until I get my chores done.  We are expecting a pretty bad hurricane this weekend and I need to get everything done before I run out of time!  I guess I shouldn't be sitting on my computer updating my blog...

So I will leave you with some photos from a couple of shoots I did for the shop...And remember to visit is at www.historyshopny.etsy.com!!!

Welcome Back,

I tend to ignore my blogs every now and then.  I'll try to stop doing that.  I'm opening a vintage shop on Etsy and have been crazy busy getting it set up.  I've been unemployed for about two months now and got in touch with my inner creativity.  I made a few necklaces that I really am proud of.  Here's a photo of one that will be sold in the shop:

I was supposed to have a photo shoot later today with Kara Anne, but the weather isn't looking too promising so I may have to postpone it until Monday (it's supposed to be stormy all weekend).  I really need to get these clothes listed in the shop so I can have a grand opening!

Brian left for Vermont for about a week.  I still have yet to go!  I'm thinking about going in the fall...Maybe around Halloween.  I'm dying to walk around different markets, take pictures of the scenery and just get a feel for such a beautiful, relaxing state.  New York is a little too much sometimes, even for a native New Yorker.

I've been wanting to move to (or at least visit) Portland, Oregon, however I was talking to a friend last weekend and he was telling me about Washington DC and how it's very vegan/vegetarian friendly.  I would love to visit before the winter.  If I want to move away, I'd love to at least live somewhere close enough to drive home when I want to...For now, at least.  I guess I'll have to do some research.

Well, I'm going to get ready to officially begin my day.

I have a bunch of unscanned instant photos that I wanted to post, so I decided to scan the remainders and post my summer in photos thus far.

My hair was channeling the Beatles this afternoon while I sat outside and brainstormed about the shop.  Anyways, I decided to start a food blog before we officially open the shop.  I want to spread the word about what we will be offering and maybe share some recipes and feature recipes of fellow bloggers.  I think it could be a nice addition to our shop.

Earlier, I had a photo shoot with Ashley for the art show.  I only have one shot to post right now.

She's gorgeous, and only 18!  I wish I was hot when I was 18.  I was kind of a chubster.

I went to a carnival tonight with Brian and his family.  It was kind of chilly tonight, which I wasn't a fan of.  We ate popcorn and sodas and we watched as his little sister went on rides and she and their brother played games.

...

I think I'm going to start thinking, saying and doing the opposite of what I really want to think, say and do.

June 30, 2011

I haven't posted in what feels like forever.  So much has changed and I'm in a happier state of mind.  Before I get into the deep mumbo jumbo I will start off with some photos of my friend Kraig who let me take some portraits of him yesterday.  After a long depression and not having any motivation to photograph or work on any of my projects, a spark rekindled the flame and now I'm ready to finish it.

The last one is just a silly I-make-this-face-because-I-don't-know-what-to-do shot and not part of my project.  There are a few more I want to edit and perhaps I will post them.

So a few weeks ago I went to Disney World.  There were 12 of us all together: Me, my mom, dad, Diana, Sean, Pete, Sam, Kraig, Winnie, my aunt, grandma & grandpa.  Granted, the "adults" didn't really go to the parks as much as us kids did.  It was the best vacation I have had in a long time...And believe me, I needed it.  I am so grateful.

Us kids in the Magic Kingdom on our last night there.

I lost my job a week ago, but for every bad thing comes a good one, right?  Well, today Eric and I have an appointment (maaaaaybe two) to see a storefront across the street from the bar.  If rent is right and we like it, we may have a new career soon!  There's a place down the block from the bar that has more potential than the one across the street.  It was already a coffee shop, so the kitchen may already have what we would need.  Let's cross our fingers, shall we?

I don't think I am going to get into the "deep" stuff that has been going on in my life.  I am just really happy with everyone in my life and to making new friends, fixing problems between old friends and really just being honest with my feelings.  Right now, I'm working on something for me, and while I will still be there for anyone who needs me, it's time to make myself happy instead of waiting for someone else to do it for me.
