Busy Busy Busy

After a few months of selling vintage clothes solo, Brian took interest in the shop and from now on he'll be handling most of the "business" aspects of it to actually turn it into a business.  I'm kind of a scatter brain, so he's creating templates and spreadsheets to keep me organized.  My goal is to open a boutique one day and sell vintage and handmade stuff and maybe even cosign with other people.  I kind of already started consigning with my sister and Kelly.  Both had some vintage designer pieces they didn't want so they gave them to me to list and sell and we'll be splitting profits.  Let's just hope I can get my hands on some more designer things real soon!

Now on to the other business...I will be selling my jewelry at the next Art is Hard art show at the Leaky Lifeboat.  I'm pretty excited because I was trying to avoid doing the craft fair because I wasn't sure of what kind of crowd would be there.  But this is the fifth art show at the bar and I've been in and gone to a few before this, so I know what the general crowd will be like.  I think I have a lot more chances at selling to people at the bar.

Alright, so I guess that's it for now...I'll be posting some pictures later this week of some new pieces listed (in either shop).

New Project!

I decided to try something new and order three naturally shed elk antler pieces.  Now, before you call PETA on me, I will have you know that elks shed their antlers after mating season (google it).

I want to bring more nature inspired pieces to the shop, and I think this is a good start.  I like the idea of big, bulky statement pieces, so these should be fun to make!  The one downside to this project...WAITING FOR THEM TO ARRIVE!!

Ox Bone Skeleton Bead Bracelet

I made this little guy yesterday.  I'm kind of in love with it, even though it's ox bone.  It's perfect for Halloween, and I can't help but be reminded of Indiana Jones with the red beaded accents.  I hope the rest of my beads come today!

Holy Trinity Holiday Craft Fair!

I'm excited to announce that I will be displaying and selling some of my bracelets at a holiday craft fair at a local high school this fall!  I've been making so much lately that it's only necessary to start selling them.

And just a picture of one of my dogs, Marley, in pajamas I bought her today from Target.  How cute?!

Necklaces

These are some of the necklaces featured in my shop.  I am still trying to get it going.  I don't want to do too much promoting until I am satisfied with the amount of items I have listed.

Welcome Back,

I tend to ignore my blogs every now and then.  I'll try to stop doing that.  I'm opening a vintage shop on Etsy and have been crazy busy getting it set up.  I've been unemployed for about two months now and got in touch with my inner creativity.  I made a few necklaces that I really am proud of.  Here's a photo of one that will be sold in the shop:

I was supposed to have a photo shoot later today with Kara Anne, but the weather isn't looking too promising so I may have to postpone it until Monday (it's supposed to be stormy all weekend).  I really need to get these clothes listed in the shop so I can have a grand opening!

Brian left for Vermont for about a week.  I still have yet to go!  I'm thinking about going in the fall...Maybe around Halloween.  I'm dying to walk around different markets, take pictures of the scenery and just get a feel for such a beautiful, relaxing state.  New York is a little too much sometimes, even for a native New Yorker.

I've been wanting to move to (or at least visit) Portland, Oregon, however I was talking to a friend last weekend and he was telling me about Washington DC and how it's very vegan/vegetarian friendly.  I would love to visit before the winter.  If I want to move away, I'd love to at least live somewhere close enough to drive home when I want to...For now, at least.  I guess I'll have to do some research.

Well, I'm going to get ready to officially begin my day.
